Love Will Live On
he purpose of this 4 minute music video is to remind ourselves (and one another) that there are countless organizations and individuals on both sides of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict who work tirelessly to relieve the suffering, create just solutions and bring peace, understanding and an opening of hearts "...so that a child, somewhere in Gaza, while looking heaven in the eye...thinks for a moment...an angel is there, bringing back love..."
(from the last poem of Dr. Refaat Alareer)

This film takes a nuanced look at the widening polarization of religions today. It shows how fear of that which is seen as the other locks us into deepening cycles of violence and grief. Blames the "right-wing politicians" and then says, "I don't think we should scold," hm... Left-wing politicians are pushing "green new deals" that would destroy the American economy, starve millions of people, create huge levels of inflation, and increase the national debt tremendously. That doesn't seem like a great solution, either. It seems like the only solution to me is to return to caveman times, get rid of electricity altogether, no running water, no cell phones, no industrialization, no fast fashion, no buying GMO food, etc. Even renewable sources of energy come from blood and even scarcer places than fossil fuels. On another note, she looks absolutely amazing for being over 80! I would've guessed the late 60s or early 70s.

Haley, I like "different wing, same bird" and certainly Joanna Macy understands the non-separation you are referring to - the Oneness the mystics and physicists have tried to describe to us. But it's a fact that the behavior of the right wing politicians (including some democrats) is a stumbling block to meaningful legislation on the climate crisis, just to name ONE issue - which is the Mother of all issues. So, yes - "same bird" but I think it's true to say that the bird's right wing is broken these days and is impeding meaningful (and very necessary) flight. I pray that will change.

Despertar a otra identidad. A veces me siento hacia abajo a veces hacia arriba.

Oblivious 93 massacre... I see your point but noticed a large logical flaw in your argument, if a child is sick and dieing the parent shouldnt be forced to give the any organs to save there life. However what if the parent was the cuase for the childs sickness? If the reason the child was in the dangerous situation was due to the parents, wouldnt they be responsible. Then like wise shouldnt a mother in father be responsible for placing there child in the situation of being in the mothers womb? It is not as if the child got there in its own...

Dear Craig, Thank you for your comments. I think what we mean by Capitalism is the whole system; Economic growth at all costs - even if the cost is the destruction of our own (and all species) life support system, and you are correct that consumerism is what fuels the system. But consumers are also trapped in the system - it's difficult to disengage from the capitalistic system because there are (as yet) not enough alternative systems in place. Creating these new systems, community by community, is a solution that ordinary people like us can work toward. We hope that this film will inspire people to join the growing citizen's movement that will have the strength to say No to the suicidal system that is in the process of destryoing life on earth. Naomi Klein's book, This Changes Everything, is a wonderful summary of why we are in this mess. And yes, some of it, as you say, is our fault, but a great deal of it is not our fault - and certainly not the fault of people in the global south who are being most affected by the impacts of climate change and who are not anywhere on the radar as "consumers." And again, thank you for taking the time to comment. it 's very gratifying for us to know that even the trailer can provoke this kind of conversation.

I think the entire abortion debate can be simplified like this: Does the mother's right to decide what does or does not happen to her own body have any leverage over the child's right to life? Or does the child's right to life have any leverage over the mother's right to decide what does or does not happen to her own body? I believe that the child and the mother both have equal rights. They both have the right to life, they both have the right to their own bodies, they are both free people, etc. I think that these are, generally, natural rights that we have. So, looking at this from a logical perspective, you have to think about the consequences of each action. If the mother does not want the child and aborts, the child's right to life is compromised. If the mother does not want the child, wants to abort, but cannot because it is illegal, the mother's right to her own body is compromised. Either way you go, someone is going to infringe on the other's rights. So, no easy - well, no CLEAR - answer there. So next we look at the situation from a lawful perspective, BUT let's not focus on Roe vs Wade or any other decision that came from abortion. First, let's look at the child's right to life: This one is pretty easy. No one has the right to murder any other person(let's just ignore the law's "a fetus is not a person" rule for right now), except in the case of self-defense. That means that, at the very least, abortion should be legal if the mother's life would be compromised because of the pregnancy. She could die if she has the baby, she aborts the baby for her life, it is then self-defense. Now let's take a look at the mother's right to her body from a lawful perspective: No one can physically make you do anything you don't want to without consequences, according to the law. If you rape someone, you face a trial and are possibly sent to prison. It's the same with murder. If you touch someone and they don't want you touching them, you could have assault charges filed on you. So, because the child has the same rights and IS considered a person in this instance, the child does not have the right to force their mother to birth them just because they are inside of her. Another example: No one can force you to donate any of your organs for someone who needs them. No one can take anything out of your body(or put anything in it) without your permission. So, your child is extremely ill. She will die if you do not give her one of your kidneys. You choose not to give it to her and she dies later that night. Will you be arrested for killing your daughter? No. Can you be considered immoral because you didn't save your daughter's life? Yes, that you can. So, EVERYONE - not just women - has the right to refuse their child the use of their body just so that they can live. Based on all of these factors, the logical person would say that women have the right to an abortion if they so choose, and I completely agree with this statement. The logical person would argue that, if we were to ban abortion, we should also force parents to give up their organs, blood, tissue for their children. If we ban abortion, we are saying, "Your child has the right to use your body if and when they need it," to the pregnant woman, but what about other parents? The ones who have already birthed their children? How is it fair to tell a woman that she HAS to let her child use her body when we tell other women and men - the ones with grown or growing children - that they don't? Let's go even further with it. If we force women to let another person(the child inside of them) use their body, what's stopping us from forcing everyone to let other people use their bodies? How is it fair that pregnant women get the rights to their body taken away when everyone else STILL HAS THEIRS?! It's not fair at all. Just think about it: someone is telling this pregnant woman that she is a slave to her biology in a time where we have the technology to change that. Here's an example of how that woman feels: you just found out that you have breast cancer. They caught it early, so there is a very high chance that you can defeat it, especially with today's medicine. However, the medicine you need has been outlawed and they refuse to do any kind of surgery on you. They COULD get you out of this situation and help you, but they CHOOSE not to. Wouldn't that piss you off? Make you sad? Feel desperate? Yes, yes, and yes. Some people who want to ban abortion say that abortion is an ageism crime. They say that the only reason abortion exists is because we are preying on the young. What they fail to realize is that this is an issue about a person using another person's body for their benefit, not an issue of age, development, person hood, species, or anything else. Having an unwanted pregnancy is just a horrible situation to be in. To all the "pro-life" people out there: don't make it worse by harassing women at clinics or throwing pictures of dead fetuses at their faces. You have NO idea what they've been through and the torment they are going through. You may not agree with their choices, but they are just that: THE WOMAN'S choices, NOT yours. Sorry for the long post, but I feel very strongly about this and wanted to share my opinion.

How refreshing to see a person taking the time to really think about this difficult issue of abortion. Often the comments on this site have been knee jerk expressions that do not further our goal of mutual respect, deep listening and a willingness to change your fixed ideas when you hear something you had not thought about. We appreciate this intelligent and thoughtful exploration into one of the most devisive and strident issues of our time. Thanks for having the patience to post your thoughts.

sdw261 Consent to sex is NOT consent to pregnancy. The very existence of birth control proves that, so your first point is moot. According to the law, a woman does indeed have the right to change her mind once she is pregnant. That's why abortion is legal. "The childs rights override the mothers because it is a child"? That makes literally no sense. Your opinion that a woman who has an abortion is a piece of shit is just that: an opinion. Having the child is NOT safer than aborting. Abortion is 14 times more safe than giving birth. So you're wrong about that. Nothing you've said has refuted anything I've said. Thank you for sharing your opinion, though.

Why is her first child she aborts more important than her second and third child she never had because she started being a mother at 14 instead of 25?
